Divorced dating website goes live
It’s been great fun recently helping a friend of ours set up a new niche divorce dating website which has just gone live today.
He originally came to us for advice on creating a totally custom new dating website. We advised him to use an off-the-shelf dating software package instead, rather than spending a lot of money on custom development that might not make any money back.
After some research, with our help, he’s built the site to target the divorced and divorcees dating specific niche. With a spot of custom visual design from ourselves, the site has gone live this week. Congratulations!
You can visit divorceelove.co.uk here, plus follow the exploits of the new site on Twitter.
Know anyone who might fit the site’s target audience of divorced or divorcees? Spread the word.

Local rock climbing in designer shoes
It’s been crazy busy – as usual – here at Definition. So busy in fact that we’ve simply not had chance to let you know about some of the recent things we’ve been doing.
We were proud to launch a brand new e-commerce website for the lovely Bourne Collection designer shoes. We undertook a dramatic overhaul of Bourne’s old website, which was in desperate need of an update. Now Bourne have a modern, visually impressive website which they can update themselves, with e-commerce facilities which are already seeing orders rolling in. Congratulations!
Another major site launch was for Love Local, a brand new initiative promoting the benefits of shopping and doing business locally. The launch event back in May was a big success and the project is set to go from strength to strength. We’re currently working on rolling out some brand new features very soon which we’re really excited about.
It’s been great fun helping a good friend of ours launch a new rock climbing website called Rock Climbing UK. It’s testament to what can be achieved with a tiny budget – a fully content manageable website he’ll be able to add to and grow. A keen rock climber, he’s got some really great ideas for the site in future, this is just the beginning. Good luck!
We’re currently working on a brand new website for the Hull City Learning Centre (the link is their old/current site as of this writing) which we’re really excited about too, as well as a good few projects that we can’t wait to show you once launched.

Michael Jackson Memories
We rarely mention anything in our news section regarding projects outside of Definition. However, a friend of ours has begun a Michael Jackson related project that we think is pretty interesting.
Brandon was a pretty huge Michael Jackson fan, at least when he was younger. His fandom had worn off over the years, but he’s been struck recently (on learning of Michael’s death) just how many events in his life featured Michael in some way – large, small, important, trivial…
He’s set up a new website – Michael Jackson Memories – to document these memories, as well as hopefully encourage others to submit their memories too.
We’ve had no involvement in this project whatsoever, but feel it’s definitely worth giving our mate Brandon a hand in getting the word around. Heck, he’s even prompted us to think up a few submerged memories ourselves!

Simplified survey
We know some of you feel our ‘request for quotation‘ survey is a bit over-long and complicated. We hear you! We’ve today greatly simplified the survey: now complete it in 5 minutes, not 10!
See our new sleeker, shorter (and generally sexier…) request for quotation survey.

Love Local - coming May 2nd 2009
We’re currently working hard on a brand new website for Love Local, a brand new initiative promoting the benefits of shopping and doing business locally. The website will eventually be at http://www.lovelocal.org.uk.
We’re really proud to be part of this project, especially as we’re a local business too. Love Local are really putting their money where their mouth is :)
The site and scheme launches with a big bang 2nd May 2009, with a programme of events on Newland Avenue, Hull on the day.
We can’t wait to show you the website and hope you’ll get involved.

Generator to Uganda
Our friends and clients at JS Power Ltd are taking a free electricity generator to Rushanje School in Uganda. The last one died and the village have been without one since.
The project is part of the Wolfreton and Rushanje Schools Community Project, which is an ongoing joint venture between Rushanje and Wolfreton School here in Hull.
The children at Wolfreton have designed murals for the outside of the generator, and we’re proud to have our logo on the side of the generator too!
JS Power travel to Uganda this week to take the generator to the village and install it. We wish them well, wish we could be there, and hope everything runs smoothly.
We’re working on a new website dedicated to the project which will be completed soon. Here are some photos:

We’re all a-Twitter
You can’t have failed to have heard about Twitter in the press recently. Suddenly it seems everyone’s at it!
But what is Twitter? Twitter is a social networking website which you sign up for a free account with. Then you post ‘tweets’ to your Twitter page – a tweet is a simple post, usually about what you’re doing at the time, with a limit of 140 characters. There are lots of ways of posting to Twitter (via the website; via your mobile phone; via a range of available desktop applications, etc.)
I (Dave) have had a personal Twitter account for 2 years now (my Twitter page is here). While at first I didn’t ‘get’ it (and it’s likely you won’t at first too) it’s since become a great source of news, ideas, help, advice, networking and friendship.
With that said, it’s well overdue for us to have a Definition Twitter account. So there it is! We’ll keep you posted on what we’re up to, interesting stuff we spot, and general chit chat. We’ll also display the latest posts in various places on this website too.
If you have a Twitter account it’d be great to have you follow us!
